ABOUT

The Texas Asian Foundation (TAF) is a 501(c) 3 charitable organization that raises funds for scholarships as well as local and international causes. TAF was created by the Texas Asian Chamber of Commerce (TAF) in 2005 and has since raised funds for annual scholarships for Asian American high school seniors presented at the TACC Lunar New Year Gala every year. In additon, TAF has raised funds for Tsunami victims in Thailand as well as donated funds for the ARC of Texas here in Austin.

TEXAS ASIAN FOUNDATION PRESIDENT

Alex Gonzales, TAF President

Mr. Gonzales, who is of Korean and Mexican ancestry, is a managing shareholder of the Austin office of Winstead Attorneys. Alex is a former Associate Commissioner of Insurance (Legal and Compliance) at the Texas Department of Insurance and served as the 2002-2003 chair of the American Bar Association’s 32,000-member Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section. He has also served the State Bar of Texas and the Austin Bar Association in numerous leadership capacities. Alex was appointed by the Supreme Court of Texas as a member of the Board of Disciplinary Appeals from 1994 to 2000.
